I ran east in my Newtons (still trying to get off of my heels!) for 50 minutes and 5.39 miles. (9:17/mile pace)
I had to work at slowing down to keep my HR down. HRave 124 HRmax 134.

Sounds like you are right on track for Marine Corp!
I have a 14 miler on Sunday after a 7 miler on Saturday. (I hope my feet hang in there)
I think for getting further on to the mid and for foot it to "lean into it a bit" and really concentrate on not over-reaching forward with your stride. also i think of my legs like "springs" that seemes to help me with the feeling (especially uphill).
