9/11 LSD

Hi Everyone,
I just finished a 10.5 mile 2+01 LSD run on our treadmill.  I got dehydrated yesterday at the CU game (a great game even though we lost in OT) and was concerned about my ability to "go the distance" especially since I suffered so last week on my nine miler.  I got a late start as Debbe and I watched the 9/11 memorial service so I ran inside on the treadmill.  I ran easy at an 11 minute pace and completed the run with no difficulty. (Thank God for TIVO or I would have died of boredom!)
Cheers,
Pops

August 28 Update

Hello Everyone,
I backed off my long run today since I slept in and got a late start.  Bayley and I ran 3 miles outside.  Given our warm weather this is just about Bayley's max.  After Debbe finished her 6 miler on the treadmill I ran an additional 4.2 miles inside for a grand total of 7.2 miles in 1+20.
Chris gets a pass this weekend since he is in the eye of Irene.  Don't float away, you hear!

Gran Fondo Bike Ride

I did a 60 mile organized bike ride with Rand this morning from Ft Collins up Rist Canyon (12% grade in several places!) to Masonville, around the south end of Horsetooth reservoir, along the east side of the lake and back to Ft Fun. There were pro riders on the course that started after we did so we got to see many of them as they blew by us. The heat and sun were intense and we both were suffering near the end of the ride. We finished in a little less than 5 1/2 hours. Randy was an animal and I think that it was one of the most challenging rides I have ever done. Rand and I have already made plans to ride again in the future.

Catching Up

I definitely got quite behind on posts, but I am glad we are catching fire a bit as a group. last week was insane. I had to work from 7:00am to 10:00pm on Mon-Thurs because we had a series of meetings from 6:30-10:00 every day on a customer experience project. Training since 7/9 has been good. We had some cooler weather periodically and a few torrential downpours to run in (great fun). I will be shifting to a 5 day/week running schedule next week starting off by adding one more easy day and then shifting that over to speed work a little later in the schedule.

I am having some trouble with a few uploads so I will post additional information a bit later. I lookin at July I was only missed one workout (due to an Illness one morning). Training schedule was T-R-Sa-Su and the July weely averages were....
18.55 Miles
23.43 Miles
11.17 Miles (there is that missed work out)
19.40 Miles
19.62 Miles

Cotton Creek LSD

Good Morning! I just finished a 9 mile 1+31 LSD. I started with a 1.5 loop with Bayley. After dropping her off and feeding her ice cubes I ran west to the Westin and then up Cotton Creek. I didn't exactly sprint up CC, but I didn't suffer either. This may be my longest run since running the Hartford Marathon in 2008!
I'm wondering how Chris's running is going. Debbe is currently cycling with Rand on a 60 miler around Ft Collins. I may force her to post on the ride later today!
Here is the LSD:

Walking Autumn

Today:
I took Autumn for a 30 minute walk this morning. We saw other doggies and she saw the water in Cherry Creek and chased rabbits. I enjoyed the cool crisp air.

Yesterday:
Carried Emmie around in the morning before work and after work.

Sunday:
Took Em to the pool, changed 4 dirty diapers. Yes, this counts as a work out because you have to go up ans down the stairs twice for each diaper change. Up to the nursery to change, down to the garage to throw the dirty diaper away.

Saturday:
We went on a 7 mile hike with Karen and Mark up to 12K ft. to Herman Lake. It was a beautiful day. Hauled Em 15 lbs. 13 oz. in the front carrier and a 12 pound pack on my back.
We saw lots of pretty wildflowers and the water was really running the creeks. Changed dirty diapers on a squirmy 13 month old at altitude and in the Jetta on the way home.

61 Days

I ran an easy one this AM with Bayley. My legs were still tired from Sunday's run which tells me that I increased my LSD too much. (18 min) I'll increase only 5 minutes this Sunday.
I purchased Hal Higdon's Half Marathon iPhone app yesterday and am slowly figuring out it's use. It's a novice program, though. You can use it as a running watch with the GPS and it will play tunes if that is your "thing".
Until next time this is Mikey talking to himself. Please don't tell anyone.

62 Days To Go!

It feels as though I am writing this to myself, but here goes. Yesterday I ran an 1+20 LSD in SFO. I felt pretty good, but am a little tight today. I have scheduled a sports massage for tomorrow to assuage the pain! Here is the link for the workout: connect.garmin.com/activity/106872923
IF anyone ever looks at my SFO run they would see that I ran a "fast" first mile. This is due to a poor GPS accuracy due to the tall buildings. My Garmin always has trouble locking on there.

Hello, Hello, is there anybody out there?

I'M BACK!!

Hello everyone,
I am back online and ready to share our training sessions. I have picked up my running and will start increasing my LSD's from my one hour baseline. My training is way behind Chris & Ray though. My race strategy will be to start out at a slower pace than Chris and see if the "old plodder" catches up later in the race.
Hal Higdon has a new half marathon training app for the iPhone that I may try. I'll let you know how that works out.

"An Easy 10"

Great 10 Mile LSD run this morning. It was a little humid, but that kind of added to the trail (mist and fog - Great). Ran on the Rail Trial, 10 mile out and back. A great run because the run is 5 miles of slight steady downhill and then of course 5 miles all slightly up hill on the way back. the trail flattens a bit in the last mile and we picked up the tempo a little. Libby did great (as usual though she is sound asleep now).

here is the link to the work out - 10 miles - 1:42:15 (easy 10:13 pace)
